88,000 organic followers in a few weeks time
Have you heard about the latest craze sweeping through Kochi? It's all about finding hidden cash in the city! Yup, you heard that right. Picture this: 500 rupee notes or 200 rupee notes tucked away in secret spots, just waiting to be found by lucky adventurers.
Check out this video to see what I'm talking about:
This whole shebang started with an account called CashHunt Kochi. Now, I'm not sure if they were the first ones to come up with this idea, but they sure made it a trendsetter in our neck of the woods. And boy, did it catch on! When I first stumbled upon their account, they had around 5k followers. Fast forward a bit, and they're now boasting a whopping 88k followers! Talk about blowing up overnight, huh?
But here's the kicker: it's not just about the cash. It's about the concept. This is what I like to call social engineering at its finest. It's high time for social media managers to start thinking like engineers. They've gotta crack the code and come up with fresh, easily doable, wallet-friendly ideas that have that magic viral factor. And let me tell you, this CashHunt account nailed it.
And guess what? Some brands hopped on the bandwagon too! Check out Oxygen, the electronic retailer in Kerala, hiding gadgets in random spots:
And even Kerala Blasters got in on the action, hiding tickets to their next match around Kochi:
It just goes to show, folks. Creators lead the way, and brands follow suit.
Also as I have been talking about in my previous newsletter, we are organizing the biggest growth hacking event in India this year on the 27th of February in Bangalore - please do buy tickets and come by! (I have reserved about 15 tickets with special discounts if you use the code “BLU10” - claim it for the standard pass) - Seats filling very soon!
