Here's Why PhonePe is the G.O.A.T at Finding Growth Opportunities
Perfect example of optimising customer touchpoints
I always had this pain point. Whenever I eat at a restaurant and receive the bill and the bill holder, it only supports two payment methods: Either you need to put cash in it or place your card in it so they can tap on the PoS machine.
But for 90% of my transactions, I use UPI (which could be the case for most of the youngsters in India)
But for that, I have to call the waiter, ask whether they accept UPI, and then walk towards the QR scanner with the bill to make the payment. There is always friction.
But last week after I had a meal at a restaurant, I got the bill holder and I was equally surprised and happy to see that the bill holder had a “PhonePe“ logo on the front.
I opened it and this is what I saw:
There was this QR code placed by Phonepe on the holder itself so that I can directly pay without the need of calling the waiter and I immediately did so. As a marketer and as a consumer - I was thrilled to see that phonepe figured out this - A Tiny issue users might be facing during the point of payment.
This gives Phonepe the edge over other UPI apps because they literally solved a huge pain point for the users.
