Thinking fundamentally about the business is sometimes more crucial than running micro-level technical testing when it comes to Paid Campaigns. Here's an example from something I did recently:
I had launched a t-shirt print on demand drop shipping side hustle a month ago: https://wearemarketers.in
I created a Shopify site, then signed up for a print on demand platform called Printrove.
And every week I shortlist some ideas on Notion and pick one out of them and hire someone from Fiverr to design the t-shirt design for me. Then I would run Facebook ads with a very limited budget.
Eventually, I started receiving orders & I started shipping them out, but then I realised one major problem. Since it's printed on demand, after the order - it will take 2 days to print the tees and then it will take 5-6 days to ship to the customer.
Due to this long delay (about 8-9 days), people were not interested when they receive the tees anymore and were returning them (RTO problem). Then I had to go back to the drawing boards.
I called up the print-on-demand platform and enquired where their factory is located in.
They told me it's in Chennai. Then it struck me. Why don't I simply run ads only in Chennai? whereas before I was targeting entire India and orders would come from places like Mumbai & Delhi making the duration of shipment longer
Also, Chennai is a tier 1 city with a huge population too. I did exactly that, cut short my FB ads to just Chennai city. Now I'm getting orders and it's showing that it will get delivered in just 3-4 days (A massive 50% cut in the delivery time)
This is going to help reduce return orders and additionally increase conversion rates because now I can show "3-4 days delivery" on the product page too! (Which is now helping me get a 300% increase in conversion rates)
