4 months ago we got a lead for our digital marketing agency. It was a very reputable brand from South India.
We pitched in, as usual, showcasing some sample campaigns we could run and pointing out what all were missing currently in their digital strategies.
Unfortunately after 4-5 days, we did not get any updates and when we followed up, they told us that they have selected another agency to work with.
I told our business development officer to follow up to learn about the reason why they chose not to go forward with us.
“Your budget is higher and your portfolio doesn’t have clients from the same industry“ - this was the feedback we got.
Also from him, we got to know that the contract they signed with the other agency was for an initial period of three months
We decided to set a reminder right after 3 months to follow up.
Three months passed away, right then we pinged them with a message “Hey, how is the project going?”
They said it’s not going well and asked us to get on a meeting.
We did the meeting, pitched them again with new ideas.
After 4-5 days my phone rang and we got the deal.
We could have simply ignored them after the initial attempt, but a planned - on-time - follow up got us a monthly recurring 6 figure worth contract.
Are you looking at when your prospect or even your customer might be looking to change product/service? Unlike in B2B, For a shampoo it could be in 2 months after purchase, hence do you have an automated funnel to follow up with an offer exactly after 2 months?
