I lost a client this week
It was like a punch in the face.
We had a clean run of more than a year and a half with satisfied clients with no one leaving us.
One month ago a new startup ringed us up & hired us.
I, personally was really excited to work with this funded startup.
The contact point I had was the growth head at that startup.
I was learning a lot by doing really good brainstorming sessions with him.
We were testing a lot, on a weekly basis.
I did my best to get the taste of the client and their customers.
But abruptly, on the 4th weekly meeting, he told me that the cofounders told to discontinue working with us.
They told him that our speed was not up to the mark and neither was our creativity.
I was dumbfounded.
I did not defend myself with him. I agreed and got out of the contract.
Then I did a retrospection. I realised that I should not have been the one who should have taken account of the client, I did it because all of our employees were already full.
I should have hired someone & should have given her full responsibility. Should have properly delegated.
I tried to save some bucks there, eventually, it backfired.
Guys, start delegating. you should never do anything when you can afford to hire someone.
