Today I got a message saying India just surpassed 200 crore covid vaccinations. 200 crore.
What makes me happier is that all of these vaccinations were registered and organised through a digital platform - CoWIN.
Nobody was made to stand in a queue in a centre to register, to get a coupon or any sort of offline activity to register for the vaccination. Everything was handled digitally via the platform so brilliantly that international agencies are studying it.
The same is the case for UPI. When my relatives from abroad came for a visit after years, they were shocked to see me scanning a code and paying for a roadside juice stall. All of them were carrying cash and I was having none. They just couldn’t understand it. Now UPI, which is made in India is being adopted by many developed countries like Singapore, Japan and Korea.
The next one is “fast tag” - no long waiting lines in toll booths. I still feel like in a science fiction movie when I simply wait for a second in the toll booth and money is being deducted and I can carry on without any hustle.
The latest one to join the digital mafia is something called an ONGC. Chances are that it’s going to revolutionise e-commerce - not only in India but internationally. Consider it a platform like UPI but for e-commerce where the entire ecosystem gets a chance to make more and better business. It might kill or make giants like Amazon to pivot. I made a dedicated video for ONDC, trying to explain everything about it. Watch it here.
