This app's new feature is a prime example of thinking from a user's POV
Let’s talk a bit about something cool I noticed while using the MyGate app this week. For those of you who haven’t used it, MyGate is an apartment management app that helps residents handle everything from approving visitors to managing deliveries. It's quite handy if you live in an apartment complex.
Now, here’s the interesting bit. Whenever someone enters your community—be it a visitor or a delivery executive—the app sends a notification to all family members. It’s a solid feature, right? Everyone stays informed. But what if you don’t want your family to know a delivery is coming?
This is where MyGate’s latest feature comes in. They recently added a new option on the approval screen called “Surprise Delivery.” You can tick this option to ensure that the delivery happens quietly—without triggering a notification to others in your apartment.
It’s a clever little addition. Say you’re planning a midnight birthday surprise for someone in your family. The last thing you want is for them to get a heads-up about the cake delivery! This small tweak perfectly reflects how thinking from a user’s perspective can lead to smart, meaningful UX changes.
It goes to show that sometimes the best ideas come when you really walk in the user’s shoes. Kudos to the MyGate team for nailing this feature
