This man made a brand out of his own meme
If you're from Kerala, you probably already know Boby Chemmanur. But if you're not, let me give you a quick intro. He's the man behind multiple businesses, with his major venture being Chemmanur Gold & Diamonds, boasting a bunch of showrooms scattered across the state.
Now, that's all fine and dandy, but it's not why he's famous. See, Boby pulled off some wild stunts that turned him into a local legend. First, he had football maestro Maradonna come over to inaugurate one of his swanky showrooms. And, just to top it off, he set a record by running 812 kilometers to raise awareness for blood donation. Critics called these stunts for popularity, and guess what? Sometimes, Boby agreed – he's got that kind of swagger.
But where Boby really shines is on Instagram. He churns out these weird videos that spark massive debates and make for fantastic meme material. Seriously, his content is out there. Take a look at his recent post; it's a pretty good example of how eccentric a millionaire businessman can get for the internet.
As a result of all these edgy internet shenanigans, he's crafted a personal brand under the moniker "BoChe." This was inspired by what his so-called "fans" call him on the internet. They've shortened Bobby Chemmannur to BoChe, and it kind of stuck.
Now, here's where things get interesting. I was at a home appliance store recently, and what did I see? A whole range of products bearing the "BoChe" brand name, mostly kitchen utensils. My mom was in the market for some kitchen essentials, and while we were comparing the brands available, the salesman pointed to "BoChe" and said, "This one's good, it's by Boby Chemmannur."
Lo and behold, we ended up buying some "BoChe" goodies.
It's not every day you see someone leveraging social media to become a meme sensation and then transforming that into a full-fledged brand that graces the shelves of big showrooms. The only other examples that come to mind are MrBeast with his products and Logan Paul's adventures with Prime.
