This small Psychological trick will help you sell more

This one always works

Very recently my mom & I started a tiny business. We decided to start it mainly because my mom got retired last year and she was consistently complaining to me about her getting bored of not doing much all day long.

The business is about going to the homes of car owners and washing their cars at their place. We hired a couple of executives to do that and bought all the necessary equipment too. It was all ready to kick off.

Then came the marketing problem, we need to make sure we get daily orders. We started running lead-generation ads on Facebook and fortunately started getting a good number of leads every day. But the problem we were facing was that when we call and connect with these leads, they mostly say “Yea, I had enquired, but I will think about the time and I will call back”

So I decided to test out this age-old sales trick of “Making the customers feel like they already have made the buying decision“ - currently they are thinking of the sign-up process as just an inquiry. I wanted to change the sentiment to “Booking“.

In the lead form or the sign-up form, we added one more question: “Which time and date should we come to your house to clean the car“

Hence people started answering like “Sunday 10 am, Tuesday 8 am etc.“ and now when we call, we start with “Hi, this is a confirmation call for the booking at X Time & Date“

Now more customers are saying yes to that time as they think that they have already made the decision and they don’t need any more time to take the decision.

Just one extra question - better sales, better business.
