When most of your todos are things that are not urgent but are mostly filled with “important”, you can say that you have a certain hold on how things are going.
Take a minute and observe the above diagram.
I’m always striving to work on the 2nd quadrant, the “Important but not urgent” stuff. Mostly I have seen people just reacting to things and end up only working on urgent and important todos. Or they end up in the 3rd/4th quadrant. 4th quadrant is getting popular ever since reels/TikTok came into the picture (I have to admit, work from home and Instagram reels are the worst combinations - I have been guilty of even scrolling through reels in the midst of meetings!)
In marketing these could be the 2nd quadrant activities:
Building a community around your brand (Mostly its never an urgent thing to create a telegram/discord group for your brand, it takes time to build and engage your community)
Analysing up your brand’s Google quotient: making sure people can find your products, read reviews about them and get enough information from google that they can convert from a cold lead to a converted customer by just self-done research on Google.
Founders building a personal brand: This is like the most 2nd quadrant activity. No one is going to question the founder nor does it have a deadline. Almost all activities can be prioritised above this, but it requires far fetched vision to keep it going consistently
Working on the copies wherever there is communication between the brand and the end customer. Let it be on the contact us page on the website, on the product packaging or on your Instagram bio - there is always room for improvement.
Is your marketing currently running in the 2nd quadrant? I’m not saying all of your activities must be there but at least 20-40% of your todos should fall in that category.
