When the product does the talking (Grandma's Pickle Example)
As a marketer I sometimes forget about this
This week I & my mom was shopping when she came across the pickle stand and just randomly took a tender mango pickle from the aisle.
She didn't look at the brand (Mostly because I was urging her to stop shopping :3)
Later that day while we had our dinner, mom opened up the pickle and we started having it.
It was so good. It felt like my grandmother actually made it - that's what my mom literally said. (Goes very well with the brand’s name - “Grandma’s“)
Then she said to me “Don’t ever forget this brand’s name.“ On top of that, she wanted to go and buy more of the same stock before it sells out. “We better go asap and buy the same stock pickle because this entire batch should be great“
This was a gentle reminder for the marketer inside me who sometimes forgets that at the end of the day, it’s the product that does the final verdict. Marketing can only help the product get to the supermarket aisle or to the hands of the customer.
