I read a newsletter by Seth Godin this week in which he talked about getting lucky.
Luck might not be a strategy, but setting yourself up to be lucky might be.
- Seth Godin
It made a lot of sense to me. We cannot directly rely on getting lucky, but we surely can show up at those places where our chances of getting lucky increase.
I’d like to give you some examples from my experience so you understand better:
I have posted on Linkedin more than 600 times. I got lucky one time which helped me to get my company featured in Economic Times
I have tweeted 1000+ times and I got lucky with one tweet: which got me 85,000 impressions and 1000+ engagements
We have posted 190+ times on our Instagram, out one got us 4500+ shares
Coming to an example from finance, I’ve been investing for the last 4 years, and one investment has given me 130%+ in returns
I have been sending out newsletters every week for a lot of months right now and one time someone actually paid me by buying me a coffee after reading my newsletter. (Thanks!)
These are some very specific examples of how I got lucky, just by consistently showing up.
The question is are you giving up after your first attempt?
Are you losing confidence in yourself after your 9th Linkedin post which ends up getting 4 likes?
Then, my friend, you are losing yourselves the chance to hit the jackpot someday.Show up regardless of the previous outcome, chances are you will get lucky. Someday.
