Zomato & Period Leaves: New benchmark
If you search Zomato on Google and hit the news tab, you can see more than 7 news articles from top media houses like CNN, The Hindu and The Guardian.
The media cannot just resist talking about the "Period Leaves" introduced by Zomato by which women can take up to 10 days off in a year during their menstrual days.
As a startup giant, the move has to be appreciated and can be the first of the many.
Looking from a pure business perspective, I think Zomato won. By sacrificing a few working hours of only a segment of their employees, they surely got millions worth of free press attention.
They were able to be socio-centric and at the same time, the action was newsworthy.
No wonder they just raised another 100M$ investment from Tiger Capital.
Getting into the news for a positive action should be the new benchmark!
